How to light: Ground Items
-
1Step 1:
Choose a Safe Location
Use a flat, solid, non-flammable surface like concrete, asphalt, or packed dirt. Make sure the area is clear of grass, leaves, flammable objects, and away from buildings, vehicles, and trees. Keep spectators at least 25–50 feet away.
-
2Step 2:
Have Safety Gear Ready
Keep a bucket of water, hose, or fire extinguisher nearby. Wear safety glasses and avoid loose clothing.
-
3Step 3:
Secure the Firework
Place the ground firework upright and stable. Use bricks or blocks on either side if it’s windy or if the base is unstable. Never tape or bury the firework.
-
4Step 4:
Prepare the Fuse
Locate the fuse on the side or top of the firework. Gently pull the protective cover off to expose the fuse. Do not pull the fuse itself.
-
5Step 5:
Light the Fuse
Use a long-reach lighter, safety punk, or extended torch. Stand to the side of the firework, never over it. Light the tip of the fuse and immediately back away 15–20 feet. Never re-light a “dud.” Wait 15 minutes, soak it, and toss it.
-
6Step 6:
Watch from a Distance
Enjoy the show, but stay alert. Keep children and pets at a safe distance during and after the firework is done.
-
7Step 7:
Clean Up & Dispose of Safely
Wait at least 15 minutes before approaching the firework. Douse spent fireworks with water to ensure no live embers remain. Dispose of them in a metal container away from flammable materials.
